On the Scene: My Night at the Brooklyn Museum

A Saturday ago I found myself at the Brooklyn Museum. Alone.

As a result of a few miscommunications, an overcapacity issue, rain, and Jamaican Independence Day, my friends and I found ourselves on opposite sides of this month’s Target First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum. I was inside; they were out. Instead of leaving and going to a club or bar with them, I decided to explore First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum alone. (Who does that?) Apparently, me.

Interview: Meghan Hawkes, Arts Marketing and Management 

Meghan Hawkes grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and attended Florida State University where she attained a dual degree in Public Relations and Theatre. Following graduation she moved back to Tuscaloosa and attained a Master of Science in Marketing from The University of Alabama. Meghan began her career working for The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa County working as Marketing Coordinator and Assistant Manager at the Bama Theatre.

On the Scene: The High Line and a Dapper Cellist

This summer a college friend is working at the High Line, a park built on an early twentieth century, elevated railroad on Manhattan's west side. New to New York, I had never heard of the park. My friend was surprised. A bit ashamed, I decided to make my way down to Chelsea and see what the fuss is all about.

I'm glad I did.

Interview: #TeamHellaSwag, 4 Creative Ladies in the Bay

We’re not sure if a short blurb could ever do justice to the force that is known as #TeamHellaSwag. But, we’ll try. And we’ll throw in a few interviews too, while we’re at it. So, here it goes. #TeamHellaSwag is a collective of four young ladies living in San Francisco and taking in the culture of the Bay. Individually, they are an actress, a photographer, an actress/creative director/ model and a businesswoman. Collectively, they are a powerhouse of comedy and culture wrapped into a blog where they comment on various topics ranging from Hip Hop to fashion, black hair care to black bus drivers. Interview: Nikki Cloer, Actress

Nikki Cloer is a twenty-three year old recent college graduate. Born and raised in Garland, Texas, Nikki went to college at Southern Methodist University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising. Upon graduation, she took a job at Moroch Partners where she interned the previous semester. A short year and a half later, Nikki has been promoted to Account Executive. Nikki performs in community theatre productions across the Dallas metroplex in her spare time. She currently lives in Uptown Dallas with her fiancé, Sam.
