Taking in Chicago

Another panorama, this time from my friend's roof in River West.  It is comprised of eight different images, all taken with the same settings.  I then blended together in Photoshop to make an image that is roughly 18,000x2,500px or 44MP (thought I've shrunk it down here to make sure it doesn't kill the internet).

I've always been curious about this ... when you blend it together in photoshop, is it extremely tedious? Or is it something that gets easier and faster with time? Also, when you take the eight individual shots, do you have to make sure your camera is at the exact same angle/ level?

It's not too terrible, provided you have a really fast computer. Otherwise you spend a lot of time waiting around.

Photoshop automates the process of stitching the shots together, so I just have to make sure they're prepped (which usually entails applying a lens correction to deal with any warping or vignetting). After the image comes out, it's usually a mess around the edges from places that would or would not work together, so I just crop a rectangle out of the middle. I then apply any necessary adjustments to the image, and it's done!
